The Ellington Foundation was created from Dr. Tameka's love of students and the arts. Our mission is to support first generation students and students of color majoring in the arts.
"Fifth percent of first generation students are from a low income background," (Greatschools.org, 2019).
"First generation college graduates are 59% more likely to cite debt (including student loans) as a reason for leaving the arts than non-first-generation graduates," (Strategic National Arts Alumni Project, SNAAP, 2021)
"Many first generation college students leave college so they can work more hours to support themselves or their family," (League.org, 2021).
